The Early Years Foundation
Children should enjoy their time at nursery. At St. George’s we ensure that children enjoy learning and preparing for school. St. George’s offers the highest quality of education.
At St George’s, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), a government framework for learning, development and care for children from birth to five. Its purpose is to provide all children with the best possible learning opportunities and experience to help each child reach their full potential.
The EYFS is grouped into six areas of learning, as follows:
- Communication, language and Literacy
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Physical Development
- Creative Development
Children are encouraged to learn with enjoyment and challenge through the provision of well-planned play experiences.
Learning journeys
Each child will have ‘individual learning profiles’ which enables staff to record and monitor their achievements in each of the six areas.
